Do you know how to spot fake text messages from your bank? (New Scam Trend)

Updated: Nov 16, 2022

The most alarming new trend is a text message scam going around that appears to be from your own bank.

Signs of this scam:

  • Receiving a text message that appears to be from a major bank like Chase, Bank of America, or Wells Fargo.

  • In the text message they will inform you that there is something wrong or that there's been a fraudulent charge on your account.

  • They also usually send a link or a phone number to resolve the problem with your account.

What to do if you are targeted:

  • Do not reply, click on any links they send, or call the number.

  • Instead look up on Google the official phone number of your bank branch and call them to verify there is nothing wrong with your account.
